Valentine's Day Activities On A Budget

Heart

Valentine's Day is the time to go that extra mile for your partner to show them just how much you appreciate them. But sometimes we cannot afford to buy expensive jewellery or take a trip to the Maldives, so you may have to get creative. Here are a few activities you can do for Valentine's Day that are budget friendly whilst still being romantic and fun. Remember, above all, it's the thought that really matters!

Go on a Hike

Life gets busy and sometimes work takes over allowing you to forget about the little things that make you happy. Taking a hike is the perfect way to spend some uninterrupted quality time with your partner, whilst also getting in some exercise. Pick a hike such as a hill, mountain or woodland trail that boasts stunning views so there is an added component to the activity. Spending a few hours, just you and your partner, away from all the noise and stress of daily life can make for a great Valentine's Day gift.

Cook a Meal

Whether you cook a filet mignon and roasted spinach with red wine jus or keep it simple with a macaroni cheese or pizza, cooking a meal together can be very romantic. It allows you to spend time together working towards a unified (and tasty) goal. Put some of your favourite tunes on and dance the night away as you create a yummy meal for the both of you.

Once the food is ready, you can sit at the dinner table and enjoy your creation together. This is a great budget-friendly option if you cannot afford to be eating out at posh restaurants. You can even decorate the table and eat in candlelight to add to the romance.

Visit a Gallery

A couple of tickets to a local museum aren't usually too expensive, and some are even free to attend. Going to look at some amazing art and learn more about the history of each piece can be cause for a great afternoon. If you want to make the activity a little more interesting, why not make up your own names for each painting and give each other scores. Little games like this can make an activity more memorable and personal to you two as a couple.

Movie Night

Dinner and a movie is a great date night idea, especially for Valentine's Day, however it can be quite pricey! An alternative way to still have this same vibe is to make a meal at home (or order your favourite takeaway), get comfy on the couch, maybe add some candlelight or funky LED lighting and relax with your favourite film. This is the perfect way to spend some quality time together without breaking the bank.

You can stay on theme and watch The Notebook or Notting Hill, but it is your evening after all, so if you're more into The Shining or Back To The Future, then enjoy the films you want to watch.

Bake Together

There's nothing like a homemade cake! Get your apron on, channel Mary Berry and create a sweet and sugar masterpiece for your partner this Valentine's Day. There are a whole range of snacks you can make if cake isn't for you. Try scones, cookies, biscuits or if you want to be extra classy, macarons.

Why not join forces with your partner and make it fun by baking along with them. You can even pretend you are on the Great British Bake Off and add a little spicy competition into the mix.

Picnic

Picnics are a great way to spend a sunny February day. Make your favourite sandwiches, bring some snacks and drinks and enjoy each other's company for an afternoon. You do not need to eat at a Michelin star restaurant to show your love to another person. A simple picnic will allow you to connect with your partner in a relaxed manner.

If the weather isn't too good, then why not throw a blanket on your living room floor, search 'park vibes' on YouTube and voila; you have a makeshift indoor picnic.
