The Best Parks For A Summer Picnic

Summer-Picnic

Summer is the perfect time to get outside and explore. With the great weather, take a well deserved long weekend and embrace the sun whilst it is here. You can pack a scrumptious picnic and discover some of the unsung parks and fields of the UK. If you need a starting point, here are some of our favourite picnic spots for you to explore at your leisure.

Jephson Gardens

Jephson Gardens is a stunning Victorian Park in the centre of Leamington Spa, just outside Birmingham and Coventry. The gardens are filled with colourful flowerbeds and remarkable sculptures, inviting the public to engage with them.

The garden also has a Glasshouse, built in 2003. Inside is an array of tropical foliage, as well as a goldfish pond and observation beehive.

Jephson Gardens is the ideal place to visit for a relaxing walk, family picnic or just getting closer to nature. It is a short drive away from Britannia Hotel Coventry, allowing you to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and reconnect with the greenery around us.

Hampstead Heath Park

If you are tired of looking around the cement city of London and get to some cleaner, calmer parts, this is the place for you. Less than four miles out from the centre, tucked away in north London, we have Hampstead Heath Park. Some 800 acres of beautiful greenery, with magnificent views spanning across the whole city from atop Parliament Hill.

Bring a lovely picnic and find your spot. Here you can relax and take in all the amazing views whilst enjoying the snacks you brought along.

Just to give you a taste of just how stunning this place is, it was the very park that inspired the creation of The Chronicles of Narnia as well as an array of famous works of art.

With family-friendly activities, guided and solo tours and a tearoom with exceptional views of the castle, there is no reason to pass up on visiting one of the UK's most iconic historical buildings from over the last millennium.

If the thought of scaling the hill that Corfe Castle sits on is too much, you can still interact with the castle in a different way. Head down to the Model Village where you can see a scaled down version of the castle, as well as getting a birds eye view of the weaving streets of Wareham and the exceptional Purbeck Stone Cottages.

Princes Street Gardens

Princes Street Gardens are a great picnic spot that was created once Edinburgh's largest loch, the Nor Loch, was drained. With over 35 acres of stunning green land, you can plant your picnic in the sun or the shade, depending on your preference.

This park is regarded as one of Edinburgh's most important parks, as it separates the Old Town from the New Town. The separation is created by what is known as The Mound, an artificial hill that connects the two.

You can catch a stunning view of Edinburgh castle from the gardens. Towering above the gardens, almost mirroring Hogwarts, from the world of Harry Potter.
