Unwind on Global Day of Unplugging

Person-on-Phone

Let's be honest, everyone is guilty of being on their phones too much. We frequently find ourselves with a phone in hand, head down and thus, missing out on all that the real world has to offer. Well, this March, join in with the Global Day of Unplugging by putting your devices away and enjoying the world around with those closest to us.

What is the Global Day of Unplugging?

Global Day of Unplugging was established back in 2003 by a Jewish non-profit organisation. The aim was to have one full day where people disconnected from their devices, giving them more time to focus on relaxing and spending quality time with family and friends.

Whilst the internet and smartphones have undeniably created communities and brought people together from all corners of the world, we may have also lost sight of the world right in front of us. So, this March, take the challenge head on and for 24 hours, go without any devices!

Global Day of Unplugging falls on Friday 1st March this year. If you find that unplugging for the day gave you the clarity and positivity you have been looking for, then why not carry it on throughout the month for as long as you can. Even taking it on once every week would be amazing, as, in this day and age, fully unplugging for weeks on end may not be realistic.

There is so much you could fill your unplugged day with. One option is to fully relax in the comfort of your own home and enjoy time with your family and friends. Alternatively, you could take advantage of the beautiful UK landscapes and get outdoors to take in the sights and activities on offer. Here are a couple of ideas that you could enjoy during your free 24-hours, or longer.

City breaks

As this day lands on a Friday, it is the perfect excuse to go on a long weekend break. Going on a city break whilst unplugged could be the best idea, as there will be an array of events, activities and new locations to check out, that will occupy your mind instead of being on your phone. You could make so many new and exciting discoveries!

Britannia Hotels have a range of amazing and affordable city breaks including hotels in: Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Leeds and London.
