Parent Paradigms For UK Holidays With Children

Finding entertainment to suit both adults and children can sometimes be difficult. As a leading member of the hotel industry, we have many ideas for adventures based around our UK hotels.

Starting with picnic spots, for pleasant walks in both summer and winter where kids can roam freely whilst adults enjoy some invigorating fresh air, Somerset House and Horniman Gardens based in London are ideal. Only a short distance from our spectacular International Hotel, located on Canary Wharf with stunning skyline views, both provide courtyards for your disposal.

PicInside Somerset House you can browse a cultivated art exhibition. However, if the children get restless they can gallop the grounds, dipping their feet in fountains whilst you enjoy a spot of tea and cake. Around the same distance, a half hour drive away, are the Horniman Gardens. This is perfect for a family picnic with panoramic views scoping across London. In summer months, there are also live performances geared towards children of all ages, as well as art and craft workshops to enjoy whilst parents browse the beautiful grounds.

Away from the city, Bournemouth allows visitation to Brownsea Island, a portal for family fun ranging from Easter Egg Trails, to building your own woodland dens and wildlife watching. It is a half hour drive away including a boat trip from the Poole Harbour, however with such unique activities in this one-off location, as a destination of adventure this should be on the top of your priorities, as it maintains many exceptional reviews.

For those not wanting to travel across seas, do not worry! There are a number of other boastful attractions round Bournemouth, such as the town’s beach. Only a ten minute walk away from our UK hotel, the beach sits on a cliff line that seemingly only artists could have imagined. Award-winning, its sandy shores produce its own hemisphere as it miraculously has some of the warmest sea temperatures in the UK, so get your buckets and spades at the ready for a sibling splash-out!

Also just a nine minute walk away, is Ainsdale Beach from our Prince of Wales Hotel in Southport. It is one of the most popular to the coast and the only beach in the North West to be the proud winner of the Blue Flag Award, meaning beach management is of the highest quality in the UK. This is a great place to take the children for flying kites, cycling, observing shell collections and evidently enjoying all the side-side fun of splashes and skimming stones.

For rainy days, Britannia have also got you covered! The Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh are a great way to spend an outing filled with family events. You can join your children in decorating daffodil flower pots, track down insects to be examined, make your own bird feeders and even join the hunt for bees around the gardens! Our Edinburgh Hotel is only a 10 minute drive away from the gardens, meaning you can spend the entire day there without having to worry about transport!

You could also visit Manchester to see a spectacular show at Manchester’s Royal Exchange. From period dramas like Anna Karenina to Mop-Top’s Tale Trail with Mother Hen for under 11’s only, there is plenty to fit in for all preferences and ages. Another rainy day option is to embrace the water with a visit to the underworld aquariums. The London Sea Life Centre has an underwater walkway filled with sharks, sea horses and all your favourite sea life, with The Deep in Hull also housing over 30 aquatic exhibits, including an impressive 3,500 fish!

Whatever the weather, you can stimulate ounces of pleasure in your children with all the fun attractions near every one of our Britannia UK holiday hotels. So book now and start planning all your fun adventures!
