Cafe's and Bars
Theatre Bar
Enjoy a Drink in The Comfort of The Royal Hotel's
Theatre Bar. This wondrously elegant Art Deco Theatre Bar
provides the ideal setting to enjoy pre-dinner dinner drinks or to
relax after a hard days work - exploring Scarborough and the local
area.
The well stocked Bar is located within the hotel directly behind The Royal's famous Regency Staircase offering a wide range of traditional draught and bottled beers, a wide selection wines, popular liqueurs, spirits and soft drinks.

The Theatre Bar takes its name from it's historical links with Scarborough's Theatre Royal, which once stood on St. Thomas Street - a continuation of St. Nicholas Street. The Theatre was only a minutes walk from The Royal Hotel, and as such the hotel bar became the watering hole of choice for both resident and traveling actors performing at the theatre for many years.
The Theatre Royal had opened in 1767 and had a long run - presenting its final performance in 1924. The building was demolished a few years later with the site is now occupied by Boleyns Nightclub.
