Access Statement
Please find outlined below information we hope will ensure you enjoy your visit to the Britannia Hotel, regardless of whether your life is affected in some way by a medical condition, disability, impairment or specific learning difficulty.
Prior to your arrival
• Enquiries and reservations may be made by phone or
email.
• Should you require a taxi to the hotel
from Southport Station (5 minute drive) or Liverpool
(40 minute drive), taxis are readily available which are suitable
for wheelchair users, if required.
• Directions to the hotel can be found on our
website.
On arrival at the hotel
• There is a ramp at the side of the main entrance for
all disabled guests.
• The Duty Manager is always on hand to help you with any
luggage or general enquiries
• In this bar there are no steps
• We do not have a valet car service
Reception Area
• The floor is carpeted throughout and is suitable for
wheelchair users.
• Reception is all on one level. The registration
card will be placed on a clipboard for ease of use.
• The reception desk is fitted with a hearing loop.
Public areas
• Our corridors are well lit and carpeted
throughout.
• Our residents bar is located off reception and
on the same level. This area is carpeted and
laminated.
• There are none magnetised doors, and do require you to
open them.
Toilets
• A disabled toilet is situated on the ground
floor.
• The fire alarm system has sirens in the public areas
and flashing lights in the licensed areas. Assistance is
given if evacuation is necessary.
Restaurants and Bars
• Cloisters Restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch
and dinner is accessed by reception. Cloisters
Restaurant operates as a carvery self service area for all meals,
wheelchair users will be able to access this facility.
The Restaurant Supervisor can explain the choices available
and serve you at your table.
• Background music plays in the restaurant and bar
areas.
• All areas are well lit.
• There is ample seating in this restaurant.
Accommodation
• A limited number of rooms are available on the
ground floor which are accessed along the corridor.
• Five bathrooms are fitted with grab rails and pull
cords only. We have two purpose built rooms for Disabled Persons.
(Room numbers 31 & 159)
• Bedrooms generally have limited space for wheelchair
users. Our suites are more spacious but these have limited
door widths.
Conference & Banqueting Facilities
• Our main banqueting facility, the Ball room, has no
direct access from outside, which in turn has direct access to the
disabled toilet facility.
• All of our meeting rooms are located off reception with
direct access for wheelchair users. We have 3 meeting rooms
on level 1, and one room with no access.
• Our medium sized function room has full access from reception.
Additional Information
• Guide dogs are welcome.
• On request medication can be left in our kitchen
fridges overnight.
