Access Statement

Please find outlined below information we hope will ensure you enjoy your visit to the Britannia Hotel, regardless of whether your life is affected in some way by a medical condition, disability, impairment or specific learning difficulty.

Prior to your arrival

• Enquiries and reservations may be made by phone or email.
• Should you require a taxi to the hotel from Piccadilly Station (5 minute drive) or Manchester Airport (30 minute drive), black cabs are readily available which are suitable for wheelchair users, if required.
• Directions to the hotel can be found on our website.

On arrival at the hotel

•  There are two loading bays outside the main entrance to the hotel on Portland Street.
• At the bottom of the steps is a dedicated alarm bell for guests with disabilities, which alerts the concierge to your presence.
• The Duty Manager or Concierge will bring you to our Wave Bar which is located towards one end of the hotel.

In this bar is a disabled lift facility in which you will be accompanied. This alights at reception level where you will be taken down the corridor to reception for check in.

• We do have a valet car service which is available at a charge of £16.00 per day, which can be arranged by the concierge on arrival.

Reception Area

• The floor is carpeted throughout and is suitable for wheelchairs.
• Reception is all on one level. The registration card will be placed on a clipboard for ease of use.
• The reception desk is fitted with a hearing loop.

Public areas

• Our corridors are well lit and carpeted throughout.
• Our residents bar, Cromptons, is located off reception and on the same level. This area is carpeted.
• There are magnetised doors which do not need to be opened from reception to this bar.

Toilets

• A disabled toilet is situated on the ground floor and is accessed by going through Cromptons Bar and is a short distance down the corridor.
• The fire alarm system has sirens in the public areas and flashing lights in the licensed areas. Assistance is given if evacuation is necessary.

Restaurants and Bars

• Jennys Restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner is accessed by travelling in the passenger lift to -1 level. From there a short ramp takes you into Spinners Bar, where restaurant tables are also located. Jennys Restaurant operates as a carvery self service area for all meals, wheelchair users would not be able to access this facility. The Restaurant Supervisor would explain the choices available and serve you at your table.
• Background music plays in the restaurant and bar areas.
• All areas are well lit.
• There is ample moveable seating in this restaurant.
• There is no access to our Pizzeria Restaurant which is located on the lower ground floor.
• There is no access to Cromptons Restaurant which is located beside Cromptons Bar.
• There is direct access via double doors into Bar Rogue which is located off reception. Snacks are also available throughout the day in this bar.

Accommodation

• A limited number of rooms are available on the ground floor which are accessed through Cromptons Bar and along the corridor.
• Two bathrooms are fitted with grab rails and pull cords only. These bathrooms doors open outward for easy access.
• Bedrooms generally have limited space for wheelchair users. Our suites are more spacious but these have 2 steps into the lounge area.

Conference & Banqueting Facilities

• Our main banqueting facility, the Crystal Suite, has direct access from reception, which in turn has direct access to the disabled toilet facility.
• Three of our smaller meeting rooms are located off reception with direct access for wheelchair users. These are Piccadilly, The Study and The Boardroom.
• Our remaining meeting rooms are accessed via the guest lift on floors 1,2 and 3.

Nightclub/ Fun bar

• There is wheelchair access to Wave Bar from reception. Either the concierge or the Duty Manager will assist.
• There is no wheelchair access into Bar Rogue nightclub.

Additional information

• Guide dogs are welcome
• A small fridge can be made available upon request for medication.
